You Look Like My Maid: Inside Celina Jaitly’s ₹50 Crore Domestic Violence Case Against Husband Peter Haag

Actor Celina Jaitly has filed a domestic violence case against her husband, Austrian businessman Peter Haag, accusing him of cruelty, physical abuse, emotional manipulation and financial exploitation. The former Miss India is also seeking ₹50 crore as compensation along with additional sums for the alleged loss, trauma and financial distress she endured during the marriage. The case is currently being represented by Karanjawala & Co and came up before the Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Andheri earlier this week for verification and issuance of notice.

According to her legal team, Celina was trapped in a deeply troubled marriage for years, and the situation reached a breaking point after the death of her parents in 2017. The lawyer claimed that Peter allegedly used that vulnerable phase to isolate her emotionally and financially. One of the major legal claims concerns the transfer of her Mumbai property via gift deed, which Celina’s legal counsel alleges happened under pressure and manipulation.

At present, Celina’s children are staying with Peter in Austria and the actor is fighting for custody in India and Austria simultaneously. The Austrian court has granted Celina one hour of telephonic access every day, something her lawyer described as a small but meaningful victory. The matter is expected to proceed further on December 12, when Peter Haag will be required to respond to the allegations before the Andheri court.

Her legal team alleges that the marriage involved repeated physical threats, verbal humiliation and degrading remarks. One shocking incident mentioned includes Peter reportedly telling Celina in public, “You look like my maid,” followed by alleged threats to disfigure her face. After months of alleged abuse and fear, Celina finally left Austria and returned to Mumbai in October 2024 to pursue legal action.

As the case details surfaced online, Celina took to social media and shared an emotional statement, expressing how she has been forced to fight the toughest battle of her life alone — without her parents, her brother and currently without her children. She described herself as a “soldier’s daughter raised on courage, discipline and resilience,” vowing to fight relentlessly for her dignity and her children’s future.
